Florida Archaeology Month
Every March, the Florida Department of State and Division of Historical Resources joins in the annual national recognition of Archaeology Month. This year, we recognize the recent evidence revealed by our underwater archaeologists' research and documentation of the Manasota Key Offshore Site, a 7,000 year old Native American resting place in the Gulf of Mexico, near Venice. We also encourage families and visitors to participate in the special programs and tours being offered throughout the month.
