Position Summary:
Working closely with Artistic Director Joseph Caulkins, Key Chorale’s Business Manager will ensure a successful performance and event season for one of Sarasota’s fastest-growing arts organizations. The Business Manager’s primary role is to manage the administrative and financial framework and to develop donor and organizational relationships that can support an exciting season of masterworks and chamber concerts that includes collaborations with multiple major nonprofit organizations in the Sarasota community, including the Sarasota Orchestra, Sarasota Ballet, Circus Arts Conservatory, and Jewish Family and Children’s Services. In addition to their leadership role in maintaining Key Chorale’s robust concert season, the Business Manager will have the opportunity to play a critical role in expanding Key Chorale’s community impact by managing and continuing to develop outreach programs, from robust educational programming in partnership with Sarasota County Schools to health and wellness outreach with the Neuro Challenge Foundation.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
• Performance and Event Management
o Books venues and coordinates logistics for performances, rehearsals, and special events
o Negotiates contracts with external vendors, rental companies, guest artists, orchestra musicians, and other independent contractors (i.e. piano tuner, photographer, graphic designer, etc.)
o Arranges travel accommodations and schedules for non-local guest artists
o Manages volunteers in coordination with the chair of the Chorale Committee
• Fundraising and Development
o Works with Artistic Director and Board of Directors to create and oversee implementation of the annual budget, fundraising plan, and development plan
o Works closely with event planner on annual fundraising events and manages major fundraising campaigns, including writing fundraising letters and donor acknowledgements
o Arranges corporate sponsorships in coordination with Artistic Director and Board President
• Organizational Management
o Acts as Key Chorale’s representative within community organizations such as the Arts and Cultural Alliance, Community Foundations, and the Chamber of Commerce
o Attends and reports at meetings of the Board of Directors and Board committees as well as weekly staff meetings
o Edits and approves marketing plan and marketing materials in coordination with the Marketing Manager, which may include drafting marketing copy, writing press releases for each event, and compiling material for weekly e-blasts
o Coordinates Key Chorale’s collaborative partnerships with other nonprofit organizations (i.e. Circus Arts Conservatory, Sarasota Ballet, Neuro Challenge Foundation, etc.)
o Oversees educational programming logistics and budget with the Education Committee
o Communicates weekly updates to Key Chorale members through e-newsletter

Job Requirements:
A successful candidate will demonstrate:
• At least 2 years of experience in nonprofit administration, preferably arts administration
• Organization and attention to detail while managing multiple tasks independently
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, including public speaking
• Leadership experience and ability to work collaboratively with a team
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Word and Excel
• Background in or working knowledge of choral/symphonic music preferred

About Key Chorale:
Since its inception in 1985, Key Chorale, Sarasota’s Symphonic Chorus, has been performing and promoting choral music of the highest quality that embraces and supports our community. Last season, in addition to successful masterworks performances from Handel’s Alexander’s Feast to Mozart’s Great Mass in C Minor, Key Chorale was catapulted onto the national stage, performing Cirque des Voix®, a collaboration with The Circus Arts Conservatory, on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. at the invitation of the 2017 Smithsonian Folklife Festival. They also recently released their latest album, Arise – Choral Music of Ola Gjeilo, featuring two world premiere recordings commissioned by Key Chorale. This season, Key Chorale presented a Christmas program with conducting legend Dale Warland and performed Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy and Haydn’s Mass in Time of War with internationally renowned pianist and recording artist Jeffrey Biegel to a sold-out house. Under the baton of Joseph Caulkins, now in his 11th season as Artistic Director, Key Chorale has become known for its community outreach programming, including “Off-Key Chorale,” a collaboration with the Neuro Challenge Foundation that uses choral singing as a new approach for Parkinson’s Disease, and “Tomorrow’s Voices Today,” arts in education programming that reaches hundreds of students each year.
